About this class

Who it’s for

For those planning a pregnancy, moving through pregnancy or returning to practice after birth.

Why this practice

Needs change across these stages. The focus shifts with comfort, energy and recovery, rather than using one general sequence throughout.

How I teach it

My library-based approach includes planning, each trimester and postnatal care. Breathing, chanting, mudras, meditation and yoga nidra sit alongside stage-appropriate movement. We discuss suitability and maternity care guidance individually.

Planning a pregnancy

Preparation before pregnancy: establish a practice, explore relaxation and sankalpa, and make space for physical and emotional wellbeing.

First trimester

Your teaching approach focuses on relaxation, breathing, mudras, chanting and yoga nidra rather than asana practice during this stage.

Second trimester

Adapted asanas are introduced, with breathing woven into movement, supported variations and time for relaxation.

Third trimester

Practice changes with comfort and mobility: chair or wall support, adapted movement, breathing and side-lying rest.

Postnatal care

A gradual return after birth, with breath, pelvic-floor awareness, gentle movement and rest. Your library also explores emotional support, breastfeeding and baby care and massage.

More than asanas

The pancha kosha approach makes room for the physical body, breath, mind and emotions, understanding, and connection. Your practice may include breathing awareness, meditation, yoga nidra, chanting, mudras and movement adapted to your stage.

The library explains these practices and their cautions in detail. It also includes postnatal recovery, feeding and baby-care information; the right focus for your session is discussed individually.

Find a suitable session

Tell us whether you are planning a pregnancy, your current trimester, or how long it has been since birth. We’ll discuss the practice with you and provide a separate health questionnaire before confirming a session.

Check with your maternity care provider about suitability and any individual restrictions. Recovery and return to movement after birth depend on your circumstances.
