About this class
Who it’s for
For anyone beginning yoga, returning after a break or looking for a regular practice with room to progress.
Why this practice
Build strength and movement confidence over time, rather than treating yoga as stretching alone. This foundation can support everyday activities and learning linked sequences such as Ashtanga Vinyasa.
How I teach it
I combine postures, strengthening, breath awareness and relaxation, with variations to make the same class accessible or more challenging.
What a session explores
- Joint movements and a gradual warm-up
- Standing, seated and floor-based postures, with variations for different levels
- Strength-based movements and repeated practice to develop control
- Breath awareness and a guided relaxation
Who it suits
Beginners, returning practitioners and those with an established practice are welcome. Variations offer a more accessible starting point or an added challenge within the same class.
Build a foundation for flowing sequences
Strength-based yoga is introduced within General yoga classes to help you develop the strength, stability and control needed for linked sequences, including Ashtanga Vinyasa series. You can build this foundation gradually without needing prior experience in Ashtanga.
